In 2003 the National Library of New Zealand (NLNZ) developed the
Metadata Extraction Tool to programmatically extract preservation
metadata from the headers of a range of file formats including
PDF documents, image files, sound files, WordPerfect, OpenOffice
formats and Microsoft Word, Works, Excel and PowerPoint documents.
Documentation for software developers and users can be found in the
documentation section. This includes Developers Guide, User Guide,
Installation Guide, Software Architecture and v3.0 Changes.
